Midiafire...A Virtual Filing Storage...

Media Fire is a type of tool that’s makes any file accessible anywhere. You can browse and share by having a free account so you'll always be able to manage and share your files and images at any time regardless of which computer you're using. You can post and/ or make it public to share the files or you can choose to make it private. You can save in named folders but you can also put tags on them. By doing this you don’t have to even remember where you put it! This just makes life lot easier, for teachers and educators alike- who always want to store and find resources, activities, lesson plans, letters etc. Having something like this is good as creating back-up of files.

I am not so sure how you might use this in a school setting perhaps peer assessment for high school or tertiary education… a file storage tool such as Media Fire may allow for easy sharing of documents, photos, presentations etc. amongst peers and stakeholders. Media Fire could provide easier access / sharing of resources within the second stage (Learning Resources) of Oliver’s (1999) “
Learning Design Framework” that support learners to do a required task.

Also, Media Fire could be used for Learning Managers to share educational resources with a community of Learning Managers could be developed that exceeds the schools boundaries, perhaps creating one space where such resources could be accessed.

In the past I used to email my assignment to myself to prevent losing it. Just to think of it I was already filing my ebay reciepts in my 'hotmail' to simplify my life.
Midia Fire offers more ...is the way to go. I promise to share ...just need to make time.

Cheers

  1. Hi! Mary-Ann
Perhaps you can use for back up space? I am sure many of files you create for your class need to be keep for next year or so on. If you keep in Media Fire, you do not take up the space of your hard drive and you can still keep the files as well. Also you maybe able to share the files with other educators, and maybe student to download the homework files?? I am not in the educational industiory, so for my industory such as web and graphic design, I can keep all the excises for web design in that storage space to share with students...I am sure there are more to do.

  2. Hi Makiko,
I just wish I had known this before. I have to really make time to upload my files.
As a teacher? You can scan student records and share it to parents. Better still if they work in computer just need to load it straught away. Moderating assessment with other scholols and teacher will be easy-no need to take so much paper.

One of my mentor teacher is retiring she wants to give me her resources. I can just imagine how much is stuff she accomulated after teaching for 25 years.
I think you can use Media fire in any industry Makiko. We wont be so scared to lost files incase of fire or computer crush.

    Cheers

  3. Hi Makiko and Mary-Ann
This article is making my heart sing because I am so passionate about the environment and can suddenly see the world's forests dancing with glee because of the amount of paper that will be saved. Seriously, this has SOSE (Studies of Society and Environment) written all over it. I would imagine that the School's administration systems would find it particularly useful. From a Learning Manager's perspective, I would use it to keep all my Student's records, their personal details, their academic records and progress reports throughout the year.

  4. Hi Emma,
We have something in common...I did a Webquest as SOSE assignment see my WebQuest posting- using 3 R its all about sustaining our forest. It is now so real that our natural resources is in trouble. ICT can be exciting when we start to apply it in meaningful way like saving paper etc.
    Cheers
