SlideShare

Just as I feel comfortable in using Powerpoint, I discover Slideshare - a place where I can upload, store and share my PowerPoint. Sharing my PowerPoint to the rest of the world can be daunting. I was interested to see after having uploaded some Powerpoint presentations that they have been viewed - I am now sharing on a global scale. I can see that this is a tool that could be used in collaborative projects with other global classrooms. Students from around the world participate in different tasks to be completed on a monthly basis. The students use a program called Slideboom which appears to be very similar to Slideshare.

Sharing, donating, creating is really what it is all about.

Cheers

  1. Hi Mary-Ann,
You are right, it is a huge advantage to be able to upload your Power Points.

I did a blog on Power Points before I looked at slide-share and I exerted a huge amount of effort trying to do just that; without any success.

This e-tool made it so simple and I was really interested to find that you can even embed youtube into a slide, and for those who are more technically competent than me, I found you could even tell your youtube which point you want it to start- rather than having it just automatically play from the beginning.

This is a lot of fun don't you think?

  3. Hi! Sharon and Mary Ann

Especially the WebQuest are using mainly internet resources, I think they should be able to use many e-learning tools which we are just learning right now! But many WebQuest sites are rather simple text or link to other resources and much video or even Wikipedia. I am not so sure if there is a reason for it however it is my nature that I enjoy interactivity on web site as such I found the WebQuests are too simple and can be better looking as well.

    Happy Study!

  4. Hey everyone,

I found that a great tool to use with Powerpoints is adding a voicebox to the slideshow, adding a lecture to explain the slides. This would also give the teacher time to keep an eye on the class at the same time. There would be no need to stop the lecture or lesson for interruptions. Students can be quietly disciplined while the lecture continues.
